The project will have a wide-ranging set of positive and enduring effects. The Project is expected to have a wide impact in the partner universities. Internally, partner universities will expand the capacity to develop, design and evaluate curricula for their courses. Considering the fact that the Project operates a strong quality control and quality assurance component, the courses developed through the life time of the project will be of higher quality. This will reflect positively on the students' learning experience during their university years.Program and human resource development at consortium partners help participating faculty to analyze their own schooling, teaching and lecturing and to challenge the underlying rationale for the traditional, one-dimensional, teacher-centered and transmission-oriented approach to educating that has been endemic in the Palestinian system of education. This will assist and encourage participating faculty to develop an up-to-date repertoire of teaching skills relevant to their particular areas of expertise and to utilize and demonstrate those skills in their own teaching of student teachers. Also this will help participating faculty to develop the pedagogical content knowledge relevant to their subject areas. Finaly, project will inform faculty on the available software for their individual subject areas and advise them on coaching student teachers in the appropriate use of ICT in the teaching of their specialist areas.
Through consortium cooperation, the project will enhance and institutionalize relationships and create a communication mechanism, cooperation, information-sharing and experience-exchange among partners. This would promote future cooperation among the partners.
The developed/improved programs, their approaches, methodologies and implementation process can potentially be replicated to other specializations in the partner institutions or in other TEIs. It is hoped that other departments and faculties in the partner universities will use the pedagogical advances introduced in the teacher preparation programs in their own programs and courses.
The developed and piloted courses will improve graduates competitive skills and employability. The modern labour market requires qualified people, and the acquired skills are pre-requisites in new and emerging sectors of the labour market.
This project will create core groups with the required expertise to lead the development of high quality curricula. Building this taskforce in each university, will ultimately improve the quality of the students' learning process, equip them to be better citizens and improve their employability due to the emphasis on constructivist approach to learning which improves the students problem solving skills.
In sum, the Project will drastically influence the content and methods of two teacher preparation programs. This will provide teachers who are able to improve the quality of education at the middle and high school levels. However, the creation of these model programs will also provide models to emulate, whether in teacher education programs at other institutions or in other programs in non-education departments and faculties at the partner universities.
